With this program, you will learn how a company runs, so if you are interested in the business world and want to learn more about this program you are in the right place. My glossary will introduce you to my field of study. Here are 23 terms that will be useful to know before you get into this program. - The action or process of keeping financial accounts.
- Example: These statements help analyze the business by translating economic factors into accounting numbers like assets, sales, cash flows and earnings.

- The practice of making one's living by engaging in commerce.
- Example: Whilst in America, medicine and law overcame such self-imposed debilitation through close alignment with the state, without similar arrangements the business of architects suffered greatly.

- A man who works in business or commerce, especially at an executive level.
- Example: Svevo was a businessman that wanted to improve his English, and Joyce was his teacher.

- Wealth in the form of money or other assets owned by a person or organization or available or contributed for a particular purpose such as starting a company or investing.

- Example: It was active in manufacture, trade and commerce.

- An organization or country engaged in commercial or economic competition with others.
- Example: However, it may require some investment if a competitor were to challenge the brand.

- Example: This policy proved to be successful until the slump of 1937, which resulted from Roosevelt's decision to cut down the spending as deficit and inflation was increasing.

- Example: Every employee has to go through a certain amount of training, as every job differs slightly.

- The management of large amounts of money, especially by governments or large companies.
- Example: The merchants helped to finance the extravagant spending of the aristocracy, encouraging them to come to the capital, by providing them with loans and pawnbroking arrangements.

- A financial gain, especially the difference between the amount earned and the amount spent in buying, operating, or producing something.
- Example: This would be a costly process however, with little profit in return.

- Income, especially when of a company or organization and of a substantial nature.
- Example: As China grows there is an increasing incentive for the ruling class to stay in power and the revenue earned can then be put into increasing state control.

- A plan of action or policy designed to achieve a major or overall aim.
- Example: Quite uncharacteristic to participant observation studies, this approach can be seen to have detrimental effects on Taylor's research strategies and results.

- A compulsory contribution to state revenue, levied by the government on workers' income and business profits, or added to the cost of some goods, services, and transactions.
- Example: The people would have had to pay their taxes 'in kind' by producing food for the army, which meant that a surplus would have had to have been achieved.
